Geography will deal with the study of the earth's natural features (mountains, rivers, soils, vegetation), climate and how they vary. Students will learn how to read maps and charts, locate countries and cities, examine the differences in cultures, and how economics are influenced by geography. This will be accomplished by using the five themes of geography as a course study guide. District Grading System

F 0-64 Class Grading
World Geography grades will be calculated using a weighted scale. The following percentages will count toward the students final grade.
Semester Test 20%
State/Country Project 20%
Unit Tests 20%
Chapter Quizzes/ Tests 20%
Homework 20%
Attendance 1% Bonus (Each student will receive 1 point per day for being in class, this total will be calculated against the number of days in the grading period and that percentage up to 1% will be added to the student's grade, absences for school activities, serious illnesses, or family emergencies will not count as a class missed). Late Work Policy
Students who have late work for any reason other then an excused absence will be handled the following way; if the work is handed in before the next class meeting the student will receive a 10% deduction, per day late, up to 50%, of the correct answers possible on that assignment. All late assignments will be accepted through the last day of the grading period. If a student doesn't complete the assignment they will receive an I (incomplete). No student will pass this class if they have an I. World History 10th & 11th Grade (Elective) Semester 1/2 Credit
This is a semester course which can be taken in sequence. The first semester will cover man's development from prehistory to the formation of modern nations and the industrial revolution. The second semester will begin just after the industrial revolution and continue to the present.

This semester course is designed to introduce students to the indigenous peoples in the Americas before European discovery. Aspects of Native culture will be explored, with an emphasis on the impact of contact with Europeans and the consequences of that contact. The second quarter will emphasize the Native people of South Dakota and the Northern Plains. District Grading System
